Garland Brings Home National and State Video Awards

TATOA 2019 360x250

The City of Garland has earned numerous video awards at both the national and state level this year.

Garland earned one first-place trophy and five second-place awards from the 34th Annual Government Programming Awards, hosted by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors. The awards program was held Sept. 25 in Tampa, Florida. The program honors excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies.

Garland took first place in the Public Education category, earning the Award of Excellence for its video New Pet Ordinance.

Garland also won second-place awards in the following categories:

The City also brought home eight trophies from the annual statewide Government Programming Awards. The awards were presented at the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors Conference in early November.

Garland was a finalist in eight categories and received at least one award in six of them. The City also earned six honorable mentions.

Garland earned first place in three categories:

The City was also awarded second place in the Event/Program Promotion category for Parks & Rec Promo.

Finally, Garland earned third place in four categories:

In addition, the City earned a TAMI Award in the Video-PSA Educational category for Park Closed from the 2019 Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers Conference in early June. Another Garland video, Parks & Rec Promo, brought home the Award of Excellence in the PSA Marketing category. This video invited the public to get involved in the parks master plan process.

“The entire creative team in Public & Media Relations plays a role in each of these awards,” said department director Dorothy White. “We are honored to be recognized by these organizations and delighted to shine a positive light on Garland.”

Garland’s Public & Media Relations Department manages and assists with production of the City’s Government Access Cable Channel (CGTV), Garland City Press and other publications, and the City website.
