635 East - Ways to Stay Connected Graphic_360x250

The $1.7 billion 635 East project, to widen and improve Interstate 635 over the 11 miles between Central Expressway and Interstate 30, has several temporary impacts to traffic in and around Garland.

The westbound I-635 entrance ramp at Jupiter Road will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday morning, Jan. 15. The connector ramps from Interstate 30 to northbound Interstate 635 and the northbound I-635 exit to Oates Drive will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, to 5 a.m. Friday, Jan.15. The eastbound I-635 exit to Garland Avenue will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, Jan. 18, to Saturday morning, Jan. 23.

Near the freeway, the left lanes of Garland Avenue are closed between Shiloh Road and I-635 overnights through Saturday morning, Jan. 16. Various lanes of Plano Road and the westbound I-635 frontage road at Plano Road are closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Saturday, Jan. 23. The right lane of eastbound Northwest Highway at I-635 will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Friday, Jan. 22. Various lanes of Garland Avenue will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, through Friday, Jan. 22.

The rebuild of the I-635/I-30 interchange is a major component of the ongoing project. The connector ramp from southbound I-635 to eastbound I-30 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, to 5 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16.

Near the interchange, the Northwest Drive entrance ramp to westbound I-30 and the eastbound I-30 exit to Northwest Drive have been closed permanently. The I-30 HOV lane is closed between Northwest Drive on the Garland side of I-635 and Jim Miller Road in Dallas. I-30 HOV lanes between Jim Miller Road and downtown Dallas remain open.

The HOV/Express managed toll lanes on I-635 between Oates Drive and TI Boulevard also remain closed until the project is completed. The rebuilt tolled managed lanes will have shoulders and be separated from the main lanes by concrete barriers.
