Winter Storm Recovery Resources

In the wake of recent winter storms, the City of Garland offers home repair assistance and resources.

FEMA Assistance - Garland individuals and business owners who sustained losses in the winter storm can now apply for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362 or 800-462-7585 TTY. Don't fall prey to misinformation. Check out these FEMA facts.


Helpful information from the Texas Department of Insurance of what to do After the Storm.

The Building Inspection Department is waiving permit fees for work related to winter storm repairs. The department’s webpage contains a list of current plumbing contractors and other resources property owners might need.

The Small Business Administration issues low interest loans to individuals and businesses to support recovery, 800-659-2955. More SBA Loan information, en Español.

Programs are available to assist income-eligible homeowners in Garland with emergency home repairs such as frozen pipes, HVAC repairs, and electrical repairs.  Please see the income limits table below and if your household falls within those income limits, call 972-205-2130 to obtain information to apply.  

Income levels are as follows:

1 Person - $48,300
2 People - $55,200
3 People - $62,100
4 People - $68,950
5 People - $74,500
6 People - $80,000
7 People - $85,500
8 People - $91,050

If you need assistance with cleanup related to the winter storm, contact the Winter Shock Cleanup Hotline - 844-965-1386. You will be connected be connect with local volunteers who may be able to assist. All services are free, but service is not guaranteed due to the overwhelming need. This hotline will remain open through March 5, 2021. More information at www.crisiscleanup.org
