Amy Rosenthal joined the City of Garland as Cultural Arts Director on June 27. Most recently, Rosenthal served as Director for McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) and McKinney Main Street.

She was part of the initial team to open MPAC, a 150-year-old historic courthouse, in 2006 and was appointed its director in 2014. Rosenthal helped produce more than 150 acts presented at MPAC with artists including Molly Ringwald, Clint Black, Robert Earl Keen, Duncan Sheik, Pentatonix, Aaron Neville, Jewell and Lindsey Buckingham.

As Main Street director, her responsibilities included maintaining McKinney as a state and nationally accredited Main Street program. Rosenthal also led a team to produce seven annual downtown events, including Arts in Bloom, McKinney Oktoberfest and Home for the Holidays, attracting more than 1 million visitors annually.

In 2018, Rosenthal helped spearhead the Texas Commission on the Arts' designation of the Historic Downtown McKinney Cultural Districts.

Prior to McKinney, she worked for 11 years at the professional family theater organization Dallas Children's Theater as a teaching artist and public relations director. Rosenthal has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from the University of Texas at Austin.
