For the 20th consecutive year, Garland’s Nicholson Memorial Library System is a recipient of the Achievement of Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association. Of the more than 500 public library systems in the state, only 10% receive the award each year.
The Achievement of Excellence Award is presented annually to libraries that demonstrate consistent excellence and outstanding contributions to public library service in their communities. To receive the award, libraries must exhibit excellence in 10 service areas, including providing services to underserved populations, offering programming for adults and families, conducting a Summer Reading Program, collaborating with community organizations, supporting workforce development and promoting digital inclusion.
