On this day in 1974 the Garland Landmark Museum was dedicated. The museum's original location was behind City Hall at Museum Plaza. Currently, it is at Walnut and Sixth Streets in Heritage Crossing.

Join us for a free vaccine clinic with Operation Kindness from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 3. At 10 a.m., we will dedicate the Abe J. Tuggle Walking Trail, the newest amenity at The Garland Animal Shelter & Adoption Center. Beginning Sunday, Sept. 3, the walking trail will be open to the public from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., providing a serene environment for our residents and their pets to go for a stroll.

The Dallas County Parks and Open Space program is currently developing a new Master Plan for the preserves throughout the county. Dallas County will hold a series of public meetings to inform the public about the plan process and collect public feedback to incorporate into the plan. The Dallas County Open Space Plan will help guide enhancements and improvements to the county preserves over the next 10 years.
